Simbu, while talking to a section of the media, refused to subscribe to the claims that only movies like Barfi will qualify as a good film. When asked what he thought was a good film, he said Naan Ee was a fine example of how an out and out commercial film can be presented in such a successful manner.
He said it will be hard for anyone to make a commercial film like Naan Ee which went on to become one of the biggest hits in recent times despite not having any big heroes or any of the standard commercial elements. Barfi on the other hand was critically acclaimed for its emotional content and the actors performances earned it high regard.
