Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was conferred a civilian award, Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters, by the French government, yesterday on the occassion of her birthday. The honor was in recognition of her contribution to the arts. Francois Richier, the ambassador of France to India conferred the honor upon her at a ritzy hotel yesterday.
Ash was delighted and thanked the French government for the honor in all humility. She also thanked her family for being supportive and encouraging her always. Shah Rukh Khan and Nandita Das have been former recepients of this award. Hubby Abishek Bachchan and the rest of her family except Jaya Bachchan were present at the award ceremony. Congrats Ash!
